The staff were excellent, and they were really helpful with getting three large suitcases up to our room. Although there was a bar down in the lobby it never got that loud where it would bother us at night.
The shower may have been a little cleaner, but it was bearable.
The welcoming Staff, location excellent and in close proximity for all my needs - shopping, dining, Sky Tower Have stayed at the Albion a few times now and have always felt the welcoming, homely atmosphere and ambience of a good old fashioned pub hotel. Love it!!! Planning to return within the next few months for another weekend escape in Auckland.
Friendly staff, good service. Nice atmosphere in the pub.The room was fair in condition and size, older but still OK.
We where first put in a dirty room that hadn't been serviced.the staff were good and changed us quickly. It's an older style place and was a bit noisy for someone that is used to living in the countryside (no double glazing!).Someone started a bloody vacuum at 7.50am right outside our door, that was a big problem for me!
Sky tower immediately across the road for the avid gambler. Bar open 24/7 for the avid boozer. All in all a fantastic place to crash for a day or two of binging and debauchery......

A simple room with coffee facilities and a very good shower. A nice historic hotel with 24 hour bar and a nice simple restaurant. Ideal place to stay on a budget in the centre of the city.
No radio, tv reception was poor.
It is the fourth time I have stayed here in the past few years and what appeals to me about it is it's location within a few minutes walk from downtown, the economy of the tarrif and the fact it is open 24hrs.
Whilst it seems picky given the amazing room rate, my comments would be that the room was almost impossible to keep cool, level one overlooking the car park despite keeping the overheard fan on all night (we found that on reverse mode it didn't clatter) and the windows open. I didn't notice that last time I stayed on the Wellesley St side. I will insist on that side next time. Also, whilst having in room tv at that room rate was a bargain, only channel 3 had reasonable reception.
The people, your team and even the customers it was a lovely atmosphere and I enjoyed it. Also you are in central Auckland and at that price how can you complain.
I liked being in the heart of the city - very cool - not too noisy, actually quite quiet. Room was pretty good - a little wear and tear in the bathroom and an older shower -but nice tea - not lipton yellow rubbish - got bells' tea and nescafe too - so good products - yea - ketttle worked, tv worked, lights worked - all in order.bed wasa comfortable - very nice sheets - not cheap - very nice to sleep in.
As aobve - the grubby sidewalk and amateur signage - lack of focus and sigange re the rooms - they let themselves down here - rooms are very good! And going to the bar to check in- again a sign would be useful to say chck in here and info on breakfast etc. Otherwise surprisingly good.I Would have liked to have been able to pay whn I booked - so if this facility could be done - ie visa etc.
The location within Auckland is great in the CBD, and it's also a good value that includes en-suite bathroom. The bar/restaurant downstairs is convenient. The staff is very nice though very busy having to bar tend, deal with horse betting/payouts, and hotel patron needs.
The room window opens to a parking lot between the hotel/bar/restaurant itself and a pool hall, the room did not have other forms of ventilation or air conditioning. We were subjected to a lot of noise throughout the night from drunk patrons conversing in the parking lot. With the window closed, the noise level is much reduced as the bar/restaurant itself is not rowdy.
access to CBD and facilties
room that was shown on internet site was not the room we were allocated. it suggested an old hotel refurbished. we had no fridge, the queen bed was 2 single mattresses on a queen base, the bed cover was stained, there was a hole in the wall, the fittings were old and shabby, one window would not open, it was very very disappointing
The staff were polite and helpful in suggesting drinks as well as were to find certain places in the city.
noise whilst trying to sleep at end of the day but not much can be done about that.
Reception through bar staff
The atmosphere was lacking. Does not make the solo female traveller feel safe.
the price and locality, rooms were average but acceptable.
Old style "pub" with 24hr public drinking area at ground level; basic old style cooked food in basement (noted for Wednesday steak meal); old style hotel rooms on 2nd floor. Rooms basic and clean. Staff are cooperative. A good basic room at a reasonable price, close to the central area of the city, casino, and theatres.
The hotel is on a busy road and does not have double glazed windows, so outside noises penetrate throughout the night. No airconditioning or fan in rooms.
Handy position to City
No air conditioning and very noisy from traffic below
